Amazon's Nazi-themed advertising backfires

World Update

Available for over a year

Advertising for Amazon's new TV show using Nazi-style symbols, has been removed from New York's subway system, after complaints. The ads for 'The Man in the High Castle' - which depicts an alternative world where Nazi Germany and Japan rule the US after winning World War II - were wrapped around the train seats, walls and ceilings, until New York Governor Andrew Cuomo intervened. Amazon has released a statement - that did not refer to the advertising specifically - but said the show was "high-quality, provocative programming that spurs conversation". Marisa Kabas, a reporter for The Daily Dot - herself Jewish - explains the outrage. (Picture: EPA)
