Pulis on Carragher: 'Follow Neville into management'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Tony Pulis reveals he tried to persuade former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher to go into football management. West Brom manager Pulis phoned Carragher, 37, in the wake of fellow pundit Gary Neville taking the Valencia job. Pulis, 57, reacted to Neville's appointment saying, "I'm absolutely delighted Gary has gone and taken the job. I rang Carragher up afterwards and said 'make sure you don't wait too long to make the move (into management) yourself'. I really want younger players who have been very good professionals to have a crack at management." Former Stoke and Crystal Palace manager Pulis admits he's worried about the lack of players moving into management adding, "The top players of the last generation seemed to bypass management. Players now finish football with so much money, do they need all the hassle that we get?" This clip is from 5 live Sport on 10 December 2015.
