'We might never see a World Cup here. It's a disgrace'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

As we head into 2016 and a year marking half a century since England last hosted, and won, the football World Cup, former player Steve Claridge believes it is a "disgrace" that the country has not hosted the tournament since. Claridge says the crisis surrounding Fifa is the biggest issue for the football world this year, while Paul Hayward of the Telegraph says the entire organisation should be "dismantled and reformed in some other shape". "This is the biggest football nation, the most passionate people in the world when it comes to football, yet we might never see a World Cup. That is an utter disgrace," Claridge says. This clip is from 5 live Sport on 1 January 2016.
