From street child to top teacher in Mali

Outlook

Available for over a year

In Mali, an enterprising teacher called Youchaou Traoré has founded a school for children from families who can't afford education - and the exam results are very good. It's quite an achievement for someone who spent a lot of his own childhood begging on the streets and didn't start his own schooling until he was thirteen. As Youchaou told Matthew Bannister, his life changed dramatically when he was just five years old. (Picture credit: Zanna K McKay)
