Outlook

Available for over a year

Kenyan Douglas Sidialo was blinded by a bomb attack on the US Embassy in Nairobi in 1998. The simultaneous truck-bomb attacks in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania were the work of al-Qaeda. More than 200 people were killed that day, and more than 4000 injured. Douglas Sidialo was on his way to work, as a marketing executive for a motor company, and was close to the Embassy when the bomb went off. He told Jo Fidgen the story of what happened to him that day - and about his extraordinary response. Picture: Douglas Sidialo Picture credit: Jean du Plessis
