James and Victoria - The Step-Parent

The Listening Project

Available for over a year

Victoria was a teenager when her parents broke up and her father married the woman who would become James' mother. James was born when Victoria was 19. They had a relationship 'in snapshots' as Victoria puts it, with sporadic contact for many years. James’ father also left James mother, married again and had another daughter. James and Victoria are now much closer and were working together at ‘City Gateway Charity’ in Tower Hamlets when they recorded this conversation in The Listening Project Booth. They reflect on the arrival of step-parents and the conflicting loyalties they felt as children.
