"The sad decline of a massive club"

Sport Today

Available for over a year

The former Aston Villa midfielder Ray Houghton says he is “devastated” by the “sad decline” of his former club. Houghton, who finished 2nd in the Premier League with Villa in 1992/93, said they looked destined to be relegated this season. Villa, who are bottom of the table, 10 points off safety with 15 games to play, failed to make a signing on Transfer Deadline Day, and the ex-Republic of Ireland international believes this sends out a clear message they are resigned to their fate.
