Man who threw alligator through window faces assault charges

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

A man in Florida is facing charges of aggravated assault after playing a rather bizarre practical joke involving throwing an alligator through the window of a fast food restaurant drive thru. Urban ecologist and Professor at the University of Florida, Dr Mark Hostetler told 5 live the prank was "bizarre" but alligators are very common in the area. Alligators have a "natural fear of humans," he said, but that is subverted when people feed them marshmallows - a favourite treat of the reptiles.
