Border Dispute Divides Chad and Libya

Talkabout Africa

Available for over a year

Libya lays claim to the Aouzou Strip—a desert area in northern Chad. The strip, also known as the Tibesti, has been disputed since the two countries' modern borders were drawn up by colonial powers. France, Italy, Britain and the former Kingdom of Libya all had a hand in establishing ownership of the land.
