Following the foresic trail of the 2002-03 Sars outbreak, picking up the story in March 2003. In April, it was identified as a coronavirus that had jumped from animals to humans. Learning about its transmission allowed containment of of the disease. Vietnam was the first affected country to be declared Sars-free and, finally, the WHO declared the outbreak over in July but by then it had killed 800 people. The story is told through the words of the victims and those at the centre of the fight against the virus.
