Imprisoned with my attacker

Outlook

Available for over a year

Last year in Bangladesh four secular bloggers and one publisher were attacked and killed for writing criticism of Islam. In 2013, Asif Mohiuddin almost suffered the same fate. He was stabbed nine times after his online articles caught the attention of a group of radical Islamists. Although Asif recovered, he was later arrested under the country's strict blasphemy laws and held in prison. His case is still pending, but he has been released and now lives in exile in Germany. Asif told Matthew Bannister how he first started to question his family's religion: (Picture: Alberto Pizzoli/AFP/Getty Images.)
