Polish Government vs Holocaust Historian

The World Tonight

Available for over a year

A group of academics have leapt to the defence of one of the world's leading Holocaust historians after the Polish government said it intended to strip him of a national honour because he claimed that Poles were complicit in Nazi war crimes. Professor Jan Tomasz Gross, who is now based at Princeton University in the US was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland in 1996. One of the academics who have rallied to his defence is Jan Grabowski, Professor at the University of Ottawa. He has put his signature to a letter accusing the Law and Justice government of wanting to rewrite history.
