The second train involved in the crash was a push-pull "Motor Train", an arrangement which allowed the driver to control the steam locomotive from a small cab at the other end of the train, maybe two or three carriages away. This saved time at terminal stations as it meant there was no need to run the locomotive round to the front of the train for the return journey. Neil Hamilton, Curator at the Downpatrick and Co.
