Professor Tony Dyson - who created one of Star Wars best-loved characters - R2-D2 - has died at his home on the Maltese island of Gozo. He was sixty eight. Professor Dyson built two versions of the beeping robot -- one of which could be worn by the actor who played R2D2, Kenny Baker. Mark Newbold runs the website, Jedi news. He described R2D2's impact.
