His biographer, Professor Jeremy Dibble explained why he thinks Jerusalem would make a suitable English anthem to replace God Save The Queen, before sporting events. “The idea that Jerusalem might be sung by lots of people in an idealistic way would have pleased Parry a great deal," said Professor Dibble.
