Are children better off with their mums after divorce?

Nihal

Available for over a year

Experts say there's a growing number of fathers who want shared custody of their children following a divorce as they're now more hands on than they used to be. It means that courts and unofficial agreements between divorcing couples are increasingly looking at shared living arrangements - in some cases where children live with their mum for one week and their dad the next week. We're talking about this because of an article in the Daily Mail which talks of the "agony of being a 50/50 mum". It says women used to hold the upper hand in custody battles but fathers are now winning equal access - but that also means shared access across the whole year - so school holidays spent with their dads. But are children better off with their mums after a divorce? Three callers share their views with Nihal.
