You may remember the dramatic story of a plane crash in the Andes in 1972. The plane was carrying a rugby team, their families and friends. The search was abandoned. Yet, an astonishing 70 days later, survivors were rescued from the heart of the mountains. They had stayed alive by eating the flesh of their companions who had died from their injuries, or who were killed in an avalanche following the crash. Pedro Algorta was one of the survivors. He has written a book about the struggle to stay alive, against what seemed impossible odds. I asked him if he'd thought he would survive...
