Belgian public sector workers stage protests

World Business Report

Available for over a year

Trains, mail services and prisons are amongst the services which have ground to a halt today in Belgium. Public sector unions have organised a strike in protest at labour market reforms which they say are affecting public services. The government wants to see budget cuts, changes to working hours and a rise in the retirement age. Chris Reniers is the leader of Belgium's General Federation of Public Services Union. Alex Ritson asked what she believes the government had done to prompt this strike action. (Picture: Belgian workers stage protests on May 31, 2016. Picture credit: Getty Images.)
