Sarah and Josephine: Painful memories of foot-and-mouth.

The Listening Project

Available for over a year

It's fifteen years since the foot-and-mouth outbreak in Cumbria, and the memories are still fresh in the minds of those who experienced dealing with the aftermath. Josephine is a GP in Appleby, and her family farm was one of the first hit by the disease, this experience brought the farming community closer together, many of whom were also her patients. This sense of a suffering shared was also a very important part of the work of her friend Sarah, who as a vicar often saw first hand the human tragedy behind the headlines.
