'Hamilton's partying with stars helps his racing'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Former Formula 1 driver John Watson believes Lewis Hamilton's hectic social life actually improves his performances on the track. Speaking after Hamilton claimed his fourth British Grand Prix victory on Sunday, Watson confirmed the Mercedes driver was out celebrating post-race "in some of the coolest clubs in London" with pop star Rita Ora and Wimbledon champion Serena Williams. Watson, a five time grand prix winner, says he had previously been critical of Hamilton's off-track activities, but now admits how impressed he has been with the reigning world champion’s ability to successfully manage both his personal and professional life. This clip was first broadcast on 5 live Sport, Monday 11 July 2016.
