Evans: No need to invoke Article 50 to leave EU

Westminster Hour

Available for over a year

Ukip's Suzanne Evans says there's no need for the government to trigger Article 50 as it can bypass negotiations by transferring EU law into UK law. The government could then repeal the 1972 European Communities Act and then look at "what we want to keep on a case by case basis". The former deputy chairwoman, currently suspended from Ukip, told the Westminster Hour that the person who wrote Article 50 "never thought it would be used".
