Morgan Overton: Two Boys

Morgan Overton is a 16 year-old composer and musician from Rutland. He studies piano, clarinet, singing, composition and organ, and plays clarinet in Britten Sinfonia Academy. He began composing at the age of 10 and finds inspiration from sources ranging from artist Paul Klee to poet Walt Whitman to choreographer George Balanchine, as well as early polyphony and Minimalist and electronic music. He has been awarded prizes in composition competitions including the Royal Opera House Fanfare Competition, Aldeburgh Music’s Friday Afternoons, the RPS Duet Prize and the MMA Amadeus Competition. In 2016, Morgan was selected from hundreds of entrants as one of the winners in the Upper Junior Category of the annual ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Proms Inspire Competition. His winning piece, Two Boys, was performed by Aurora Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas Collon, at a Proms Extra event at the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Radio Theatre on 15 August 2016.
