Matthew Kaner is Radio 3’s Embedded Composer in 3, in partnership with the Sound and Music organisation. Listen to the third of Matthew’s weekly commissions for 70 at 70, a series of musical and cultural commissions to mark 70 years of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 3. Inspired by Hungarian composer György Kurtág's miniatures or short works, 'Contemplations' is a setting of 3 works by Franz Kafka: 'The Passenger', 'At Night' and 'Distracted Observation'. Matthew chose to set them for viola and bass baritone as this combination seemed to match the 'autumnal' air of the Kafka. Musicians: Ashley Riches (bass-baritone) and Sarah-Jane Bradley (viola)
