At the start of the year Karim Muluga was a school teacher in eastern Uganda. But then his life took an unexpected turn. Karim's local lake was suffering from an invasion of water hyacinth - a weed which is a big problem in parts of east Africa - and the livelihoods of the local fishermen were under threat. Despite having spent his career in the classroom, Karim decided he was the one to do something about it. Speaking through an interpreter, Karim told Matthew Bannister his story.
