Laurence Herdman describes the arrival of The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh visiting the urban extension to Dorchester to unveil a statue of the Queen Mother. The 9ft 6in (3m) bronze statue by sculptor Philip Jackson stands in the square of the Poundbury urban development on the edge of the county town. The statue, depicting the Queen Mother aged 51, is a second casting of one which stands in The Mall in London.
