That Marilyn JFK birthday dress sells for almost £4m

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

That dress worn by Marilyn Monroe as she sang Happy Birthday to JFK has sold at auction for 3.87 million pounds. The gown became known all over the world after the actress wore it to sing "Happy Birthday" to President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden in New York in 1962. Martin Nolan Executive Director of the Julien's auction house said: "more and more people see this as a piece of art, but it's also something people can relate to, you can see the dress and you can visualise Marilyn." This clip is originally from 5 live Breakfast on Friday 18 November 2016.
