Reading's Children's Services could face most radical reduction ever

Andrew Peach

Available for over a year

Reading Borough Council will decide whether to restructure children's centre services. Jan Gavin, Children's Services Lead: "We as I'm sure you're away...we have to find enormous savings within the council budget, from a budget of £1.2 million, we should reduce that by a third. "We've already saved £65 million, and we have to save another £40 million by 2020. "You will see that there are cuts coming through, from every part of the service - right across the council, and it was agreed that our children centre provision should concentrate on those areas of highest need."
