Available for over a year
Michael Parkinson has said prostate cancer is “not a death sentence” and people “should not be so daft” but should see their doctor for a test. The 80-year-old veteran broadcaster revealed he was receiving radiotherapy for prostate cancer in 2013 and was given an all-clear by doctors in 2015. He said: “You have to get tested as soon as possible and if the results are that you’ve got it, live in hope rather than fear.” “It can be hugely embarrassing – but you’re not dead and that’s the point,” he told us. One man in the UK dies from the disease every hour - despite treatment being available if caught early enough. This clip is originally from 5 live Breakfast on Tuesday 20 December 2016.
