Dr Ranj Singh: ‘People don’t know what smoking does to the heart’

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Public Health England have launched a new campaign to encourage smokers to quit after new figures show that 45 people die every day from cardiovascular diseases caused by smoking. In 2017, all cigarettes will be sold in plain packaging with graphic health warnings without any branding. Dr Ranj Singh, an NHS doctor and presenter of Get Well Soon on Cbeebies, said “we all know what smoking does to our lungs, but not necessarily the effects on the heart.” He said: “No level of smoking is safe, and the best thing you can do for your health is to quit.” This clip is originally from 5 live Breakfast on Friday 30 December 2016.
