Norway has taken a giant leap forward into a digital-only future. It has become the first country in the world to start switching off its FM radio network, in favour of digital audio broadcasting, or DAB. FM will be shut down across the country by the end of the year, though small community stations will be allowed to use it for another five years. A recent opinion poll though suggested two-thirds of Norwegians opposed the move. Most of the country's car radios are currently unable to pick up a DAB signal.
