The death of a young Nepalese girl banished to a "menstruation shed" during her period last December shocked the international media. Although banned, the practice is still widespread in remote areas. Krishnamaya Upadhyaya is a journalist in the western district of Jumla, and shares her own experiences as a young woman growing up, and how she is trying to change perceptions today.
