The seventh Cold Water Swimming Championships took place in Tooting Bec. It sounded very serious, but novices as well as serious athletes got to take part. No wet suits allowed! Cold water swimming seems to be growing in popularity - 30,000 people are now members of the Outdoor Swimming Society. But why do people plunge into freezing cold water in the middle of winter?
