How syncing music to ads and TV shows is saving old rockers

Radio 4 in Four

Available for over a year

In these days of downloads and social media, getting a song in to a television series, or better still an advert, is becoming the best way for some musicians to make some money. So much so that an industry has grown up around it selling tracks to ad agencies and to drama producers. They call this ‘music syncing’ – the art of matching music to images. Matt Bristow is from Cherry Red Records and he has the song Green Desert by Tangerine Dream on his books. Winifred Robinson asked him how big a deal it was to get that song in to the Netflix series Stranger Things. First broadcast on You & Yours, 1 February 2017.
