Available for over a year
A retired police dog handler is left 'devastated and heartbroken' because he will not be able to keep his police dog, despite an online petition gathering more than 35,000 signatures. Speaking to 5 live's Phil Williams, Sergeant David Evans' sister Lisa said how he was "devastated" and was "grieving all day". He'd requested to keep the German Shepherd Ivy as he left West Mercia Police after 34 years' service. But the appeal was rejected by the force who said that Ivy "has many years of service ahead of her". She added her brother "understands where the force is coming from...but to see my brother cry the way he's cried is like he's lost and he's grieving".
