Garden decking – love it or hate it?

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The 1990s saw the trend of decking sweep the nation as homeowners swapped their plants for planks, and it has continued to split opinion ever since. Gardening presenter Alan Titchmarsh is seen by many as the man behind the decking phenomenon, but he now says he feels bad for encouraging the trend. Two people with opposite opinions on decking are Lia Leendertz, The Telegraph’s gardening columnist who loves it, and Graham Eliot, who says buying decking is the worst thing he's ever done. This clip is originally from 5 live Drive on 6 March 2017.
