Bob Moses is a senior scientist at Nasa’s Langley Research Center. He joined Nasa to become an astronaut and go to Mars but he now works on technologies to enable human colonists on the planet to live off the land: for example, using carbon dioxide from the air and ice from the subsurface to make everything from vehicle fuel to plastic air locks. Bob explains why he feels so deeply about our future on Mars. Image credit: NASA/Clouds AO/SEArch
