Back in the day, when there weren’t so many cars about, people used to let their dogs out to play in the morning and tell them not to come back until teatime. It wasn’t at all unusual to see packs of dogs hanging around outside each other’s homes just sniffing the air, and each other, and chewing the fat. Now that’s all gone and dogs don’t go out to socialise quite so much. Many spend the whole day alone while their owners are out and some vets are reporting an epidemic of dog depression as a result. It’s led to a growing number of dog care companies. Simon Hoban went to visit one in Liverpool. First broadcast on You & Yours, 10 April 2017.
