Today marks the ten year anniversary of the passing of football legend, Alan Ball. Alan was the youngest member of England's 1966 World Cup winning team and a very popular figure in the south with spells at Southampton and Portsmouth. During his time at Saints, he helped earn promotion back to the First Division in 1978 and picked up a League Cup runners-up medal in 1979 and in a second spell, playing alongside Mick Channon and Kevin Keegan. Southampton’s FA Cup winning manager has paid tribute: “He loved football, he lived for it. It was one of the greatest pleasures to have known Alan."
