Barn Owls don’t hoot, they screech! But these ghostly birds fly silently through countryside in their search for prey, and their heart shaped faces surrounded by stiff feathers funnel the slightest sound towards their sensitive ears. This makes them one of nature’s most finely tuned nocturnal predators, as they are able to pick out the rustles and squeaks of small prey in deep vegetation sometimes meters below with pin point precision.
