Supermarket staff swap tills for overalls to help paint Hamble lifeboat station

Julian Clegg

Available for over a year

A supermarket chain has pledged to support a thousand communities across the UK, including some here in the south. Twenty eight staff from Marks & Spencer in Hedge End along with some of their families worked to fit out and spruce up the crew room at Hamble independent lifeboat's brand new station. The charity spent 15 years raising enough money to build the headquarters, but lacked the additional funding and volunteer hours needed to complete the project. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Solent's Neil Sackley went along to see the works in progress.
