Maggi Hambling on Some Like it Hot and cross-dressing parents

Front Row

Available for over a year

Maggi chooses Billy Wilder’s 1959 film classic starring Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in drag alongside Marilyn Monroe as her favourite queer artwork. Maggi Hambling’s own artworks include a sculpture of Oscar Wilde in central London and Scallop, a four-metre-high steel sculpture on Aldeburgh beach dedicated to Benjamin Britten. Some Like it Hot is available on DVD.
