In My Father and Myself Ackerley is frank about his own sex life and the difficult relationship with his father. J.R. Ackerley (1896-1967) was a British writer and editor of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s The Listener magazine. He was openly homosexual and promoted authors such as W.H Auden and E.M.Forster.
