A US study concludes venture capital investors ask women different questions than men, when they consider pitches for new business ideas. Only about two percent of venture capital funding in the US is invested in projects put forward by female entrepreneurs, even though women own about 40 percent of American businesses. Laura Huang, an assistant professor of management, at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School, says their research reveals investors assume businesses run by women are more likely to fail.
