Cleo: I left social media because of my mental health

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Cleo, formerly know as Mz Bratt, has told 5 live how she came offline for a couple of years as it was affecting her mental health. The rapper and singer said when she started her grime career, aged 16, she used to receive a lot of negative and sexual comments online. She told Phil Williams: "On social media, there's no filter, like people can hide behind the keyboard and nobody is held accountable. So it's kind of like, you have to take all these jabs and there's nothing you can do about it." Cleo, who is back now on Twitter and Instagram, said: "You grow thick-skinned, which obviously you shouldn't have to, but it's something as an artist you kind of have to suck up and get on with." This clip is originally from Phil Williams on Tuesday 4th July, 2017
