The latest figures released by the insurance company NFU Mutual reveal that despite a 4% drop last year, the cost of rural theft has risen sharply again in the first half of 2017 – up around 20%. Farmyards are becoming fortresses as thieves get ever more brazen. The North-East of England and the Midlands are the worst affected regions with claims totalling 14 million pounds.
