Radio 4 in Four

Available for over a year

The latest figures released by the insurance company NFU Mutual reveal that despite a 4% drop last year, the cost of rural theft has risen sharply again in the first half of 2017 – up around 20%. Farmyards are becoming fortresses as thieves get ever more brazen. The North-East of England and the Midlands are the worst affected regions with claims totalling 14 million pounds. Howard Shannon has been to meet a Hertfordshire game-keeper who is now a local crime-fighter. First broadcast on Farming Today, 14 August 2017.
