Making Radio Waves: The Hay Day of the Pirate Stations

Good Morning Scotland

Available for over a year

It was 50 years this week since the passing of the Marine Offences Act, which outlawed pirate radio stations, knocking the likes of Radio Caroline and Radio Scotland – the original version – off air. Former Radio Scotland DJs Tony Meehan and Peter Bowman came into the studio to chat about what life was like broadcasting from a small boat anchored off in international waters.
