Scrapping scheme for immigrant kids 'a betrayal'

Big Boss Interview

Available for over a year

800,000 children of illegal immigrants are at risk as a US protection scheme is rolled back by the Trump administration over the next six months. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals allows undocumented minors, known colloquially as dreamers, to stay in the US and was introduced by President Obama. Javier Palomarez is head of the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He is also the son of Mexican immigrants. He tells Fergus Nicoll why he feels let down by the announcement.
