Last week, it emerged that Scotland has become the centre of a multi-billion pound money laundering scheme. The Azerbaijan government has been accused of using an obscure financial structure called Scottish limited partnerships to funnel the cash out of its country and into the UK. Called the Azerbaijan Laundromat, the cash is alleged to have been used to buy luxury goods and peddle political influence throughout Europe.
