Heavy Metal Murray : Murray Lachlan Young Gives A Poetic Reading Of The Slayer Track, Raining Blood.

Steve Lamacq

Available for over a year

All week we asked 6 Music listeners, which are the most poetic heavy metal or hard rock tracks. We heard Murray Lachlan Young’s mini renditions of Machinehead, Dio, Napalm Death, Rush, Ghost, Rainbow and Black Sabbath, all of which brought a tear to the eye. But it was Slayer's 1986 classic 'Raining Blood', which stood out as the most poetic of all the string shredding, gut pummelling behemoths, and receives the much admired and massively unofficial title of 'Most Poetic Metal Track'.
