Why I regret having an abortion

World at One

Available for over a year

Up until 50 years ago, women who wanted an abortion had to do so illegally. In 1967 the Abortion Act was passed to allow terminations, provided two doctors agree the pregnancy would involve risk to the physical or mental health of the woman. Vicky discovered she was pregnant nearly 20 years ago. She was a young woman and a recovering heroin addict. She tells the World at One that she regrets her decision to have an abortion.
